Since beginning his DJing career at the age of 12 Youngsta has come a long, long way. He first appeared on pirate radio at 13 playing two-step and garage and for years after he built up one of the leading shows on Rinse FM; the station that broke talents such as Dizzee Rascal, Roll Deep and Wiley. Alongside his radio show Youngsta also began working at the world-renowned Blackmarket Records in London so he always had access to the baddest beats in town.
Moving on Youngsta joined what’s widely considered to be the best dubstep label around, Tempa and has since become their A&R man, scouting for what’s hot and what’s not and helping mix their Dubstep Allstars CD series which consistently comes up with the goods. His Rinse FM show continues to command and conquer whilst his DJing skills are in constant demand at clubs all over the UK and beyond. He even has a residency at Smog in Los Angeles which has in turn taken him to other US cities such as San Francisco and Vancouver in Canada.
Back closer to home and the UK’s leading dubstep night FWD, where Youngsta is a resident, continues to grow at two of London’s hottest nightspots; as well as its weekly Sunday night session at Plastic People it has now taken up a monthly slot with Rinse at The End club. With Youngsta at the controls this run of success looks likely to continue.
As if this wasn’t enough to keep him busy he’ll also finally be flexing his production skills as we look forward to 2009 and beyond. Already in the pipeline are collaborations with new artist Seven and even drum ‘n’ bass boy SP:MC..no doubt dropping on Tempa so watch this space!
